Preparation of gallium lactate by mixing an aqueous solution of gallium trichloro-trinitrate or sodium gallate, an organic compound (I) (a carboxylic acid, a diketone or a hydroxy ketone) and an aqueous basic or acid solution to adjust the pH to produce precipitation of the gallium composition, washing with water to remove the halogen and adding to an aqueous solution of lactic acid. As a polycondensation catalysts for polyester prepolymers obtained by reaction of at least one dicarboxylic acid and a glycol. (I) is 2,4-pentane dione, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone, benzoic acid, or terephthalic acid. The polyester is polyethylene terephthalate or a polyester based on terephthalic acid and 1,4-cyclohexyl dimethanol. |
