Provided is a method for conveniently releasing a locking function. For this purpose, the present invention includes the steps of: tracking the trajectory of a touch input on a touch screen while a mobile terminal is in a locked mode; determining if an intersection point of the trajectory occurs; and unlocking the lock by corresponding to the occurrence of the intersection point. The present invention enables a user to unlock the mobile terminal using more convenient touch input by not limiting the area, location, or shape of the touch input pattern to unlock the mobile terminal.
