Disclosed are a food waste collection device and a control method thereof which generate and manage a black list of people who do not complete the payment when disposing food waste. A control method of a food waste collection device inputs marking information in a predetermined memory region when a card payment method is recognized by a payment unit, opens an outlet of the food waste collection device to enable a disposer to insert food waste, calculates and displays the costs by measuring the amount of inserted food waste from the disposer, deletes the marking information when the disposer completes the payment, and leaves the marking information and the disposer in the black list when the disposer does not complete or partially completes the payment. Therefore, the efficient maintenance and management are possible.
