A power saving circuit for liquid crystal display is provided to reduce power consumption by adjusting analog source voltage and ground voltage according to the image signal voltage not fixing them to a specific level. In a power saving circuit for liquid crystal display, a timing controller(10) controls the gate driving unit(20A-20N) and data driver(30A-30N). The image signal voltage level detector(11) detects maximum and the minimum level of positive and negative polarity image signal of the horizontal line. An image signal voltage level detector outputs the voltage control signal(CTL) setting up the power supply voltage(VDD) and ground voltage(GND). A gate driving unit supplies the scan signal to the gate line(GL1~GLn) according to the control of the timing controller. The data driver includes a data buffer, which outputs positive and negative polarity image voltage to the data line(DL1~DLm) of the liquid crystal panel(40) according to source voltage and ground voltage. A DC / DC converter(50) controls the level of the source voltage and ground voltage outputted to the data driver according to voltage controlled signal of the timing controller. |
