1,228,718. Containers. TETRA PAK A.B. 4 March, 1969 [10 April, 1968], No. 11518/69 Headings B8C and B8D. A disposable, cup type, container comprises a rigid hollow body 1 with a gas and liquid impervious plastics lining 2 and a cover 6, 7 which closes the container mouth and has an inner surface 7 of heat sealable material, e.g. plastics, which is bonded to the lining 2 by a narrow joint which is sufficiently fragile to allow the bonded layer to be torn off without danger of rupturing the lining. The body 1, which is preferably made of foamed plastics, projects above the lining 2 with an upper edge zone 3. When the coder 6, 7 is heated and pressed by a die 5 on to the upper rim of the body 1, while the latter is located in a holder 4, the edge zone 3 shrinks away and loses most of its cellular structure until the cover 7 meets the lining 2 and forms a continuous narrow, and weak, joint 8. The lining 2, made e.g. of P.V.C., can be glued, or heat sealed, to the body 1, and may be tinted to protect the packaged product from light. The cover is preferably strengthened by a mechanically stiff layer 6.
|
