The present invention relates to a driving control device for an autonomous vehicle and a method thereof and, more specifically, to a driving control device for an autonomous vehicle, which controls a plurality of adjacent autonomous vehicles on a road in which autonomous vehicles and normal vehicles drive together to drive in a line in order to maintain efficient traffic flow on the road and thus reduce the risk of accidents, and a method thereof. To this end, according to the present invention, the driving control device for an autonomous vehicle includes: a map data storage unit which stores digital map data; a driving data collection unit which collects driving data from at least one autonomous vehicle; a driving control unit which determines the alignment order of adjacent autonomous vehicles using the driving data collected by the driving data collection unit based on the digital map data stored in the map data storage unit; and an alignment data transmission unit which transmits the alignment order determined by the driving control unit to a corresponding autonomous vehicle.
