A mobile device-based method, a controller and wireless network-based method, and a mobile device enable sending Push-to-Talk (PTT) floor requests in parallel with traffic channel (TCH) setup in wireless networks thereby reducing delay associated with idle devices in Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) systems. For example, the floor requests can be sent concurrently with TCH setup using Data over Signaling in Code division multiple access (CDMA) Data Only (DO) networks or variants thereof. |
