摘要 Provided are: a negative electrode material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, which contains lithium silicate particles that are coated with a carbon-based material; a method for producing the negative electrode material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries; a negative electrode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries; and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. This negative electrode material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries is characterized by containing lithium silicate particles, the surfaces of which are at least partially coated with a carbon-based material. The negative electrode material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries is also characterized in that: the carbon-based material is formed by heating a carbon-containing compound at a temperature that is not less than the thermal decomposition temperature of the carbon-containing compound but not more than 1,100°C; the carbon-containing compound is in a solid state at room temperature; and the absolute value of the zeta-potential of the carbon-containing compound is 60 or more relative to N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP).
