The coil (1) has a carrier (2) provided with a hollow body and an electric conductor (3) e.g. high temperature superconductor or strip conductor. The electric conductor is wrapped inside the carrier and the hollow body. The hollow body is formed in cylindrical shape and arranged on a rectangular base surface. A recess is formed inside the hollow body. Electric conductor layers are provided in a longitudinal axis of the hollow body. A fluid channel for a cooling fluid is provided in the hollow body. An independent claim is also included for a method for wrapping an electric coil.
