The sliding shoe (7) has a shoe main structure that comprises end face (30) with a tread (32) at which shoe main structure is supported on a swash plate (8). The shoe main structure is articulated rotatably to a piston about a rotational axis by a ball joint (10). A displacement chamber of piston is in communication with a pressure pocket (33) of shoe main structure. The pressure pocket is surrounded by an annular collar (34). A central tube portion (41) is surrounded by a cavity (40) extending from the ball joint to pressure pocket. An independent claim is included for hydrostatic axial piston machine.
