The present invention relates to a medical device protection assembly and to a respective medical device. The protection assembly comprises at least one reorientation member (32; 42; 52; 62) in the form of a weight being connectable with a medical device (10) and orienting the medical device (10) into a predefined orientation in the event the medical device (10) is subject to a free-fall by changing the centre of gravity of the device. The weight serves as impact absorbing structure at the same time.
