The method involves diverting vapor fraction from the water-vapor-working cycle (1) as process energy for carbon dioxide-separation unit (2). The diverted vapor fraction is quickly reduced or increased on requirement for fast active power change. The reduction or increase of the active power takes place within 5 to 600 seconds, particularly within the region of 5 to 30 seconds. The changed active power is kept during another time period in the range of 5 to 50 minutes. An independent claim is included for a fossil fuel-fired steam power plants with a boiler. |
