PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material composed of tungsten or tungsten alloy as a matrix, having high fracture toughness even under a neutron irradiation environment or in a temperature region over a recrystallization temperature.SOLUTION: A composite material containing a matrix metal composed of tungsten or tungsten alloy and a ceramic fiber arranged in the matrix metal is a material excellent in durability with higher fracture toughness than a material composed of single tungsten or tungsten alloy.
