PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microparticle fractionation technique capable of extracting only target microparticles from a sheath flow flowing through flow paths at high speed and stably.SOLUTION: There is provided a microparticle fractionation method having a procedure in which microparticles in liquid flowing through a main flow path are taken into a region where a vertical cross section of a branch flow path in a flow direction of the liquid is formed in a larger size by generating negative pressure in the branch flow path communicated with the main flow path. In the microparticle fractionation method, the vertical cross section of the branch flow path in a flow direction of the liquid is formed in a larger size, jet flow (jet) including microparticles is generated and taken into a region where an inner space is expanded, so that microparticles which were taken once into the branch flow path can be held and accumulated without re-flowing to the main flow path. |
