The invalid chair designed for use for short distances, can be converted into a design suitable for longer distances by addition of a further section at the front. The main portion (10) has two large rear wheels (14) and two caster wheels (16) at the front. The additional portion has one further wheel (39) supported by a frame (38) which carries a steering arm (62). The rear part (40) of the auxiliary frame is a low level grid which can be bolted onto a corresponding grid on the main frame, under the seat (36). When the two frames are bolted together, the caster wheels can be lifted clear of the ground by a control handle (48) mounted on an arm (53) of the wheel chair. |
