摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric deionized water production apparatus which has an ion exchanger having high strength, can reduce a pressure loss during water passage, and further accelerates the movement of adsorbed ionic impurities to facilitate the removal of adsorbed ions. <P>SOLUTION: In the electric deionized water production apparatus where a direct-current electric field is applied to a deionizing chamber filled with the ion exchanger so that ions to be removed migrate in the direction identical or reverse to the water flowing direction in the ion exchanger, the ion exchanger is a mixture of a monolithic organic porous ion exchanger and a granular ion exchange resin, wherein the monolithic organic porous ion exchanger is a continuous macropore structure where cellular macropores overlap each other and the overlapped parts form openings having an average diameter of 30-300 &mu;m in a water-wet state, has a total pore volume of 0.5-5 ml/g, has an ion exchange capacity of 0.4-5 mg equivalent/ml in a water-wet state, and, in an SEM image of the cut surface of the continuous macropore structure (in a dry state), has an skeleton area, appearing in the cut surface, of 25-50% of the image area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
