1,184,326. Button fastener. F. BIGNERT. 25 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 10098/69. Heading A3H. A button self fastening device comprises a stem section 4 rigidly joined to a button head 1 preferably through a lipped protrusion 2; an intermediate section 6 entering substantially radially from 4 and bent in a staple like form 7, the free end of which is attached, via knee bend 8, to a final loop section 5, which lies parallel to the plane of, but is spaced from, head 1. The free end of 5 carries a pointed needle end 5<1> bent substantially radially inwards but still coplanar with the loop. The device is attached to a double layer of cloth by first gathering material into the area between point 5<1> and bend 7, pushing the point through both layers of the top of the gather, and rotating the button so the point penetrates the inner layer of cloth on the lower side of the gather. Further rotation fully embeds the loop 5 between the layers, and the cloth clasped under bend 7 will prevent the button rotating back and coming loose. |
