Disclosed is a method for preparing pyrrolo[1,2-f][1,2,4]triazinyl, imidazo[1,5-f][1,2,4]triazinyl, imidazo[l1,2-f][1,2,4]triazinyl, and [1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-f][1,2,4]triazinyl nucleosides of Formula I or an acceptable salt, thereof wherein the variables are defined in the specification said method comprising (a) providing a compound of formula II e.g. 3,4-bisbenzyloxy-5-benzyloxymethyl-2-(2,4-diamino-imidazo[2,1-f][1 ,2,4]triazin-7-yl)-3-methyl-tetrahydro-furan-2-ol or an acceptable salt thereof wherein the variables are defined in the specification (b) treating the compound of Formula II with a cyanide reagent and a Lewis acid thereby forming the compound of Formula I. |
