595207 This disclosure relates to a family of compounds with a 2-acetamido-5-aryl-1,2,4-triazolone core as seen in (I) and their corresponding salts. A is a C1–C2 linker; R1 is alkyl, alkenyl or cyclopropyl; R2 is phenyl; R3 is a heteroatom containing functional group; R4 is a substituted phenyl and R5 is methyl or hydrogen. The compounds are useful in the treatment of cardiovascular and other diseases, including chronic cardiac insufficiency, hypovolemic and euvolemic hypernatremia, liver cirrhosis, ascites, oedemas and the syndrome of inadequate ADH secretion (SIADH). The disclosure also relates to the preparation of these compounds and their use in medicaments for the above mentioned conditions.
