The clock (1) has a switchable connection socket (6) for connecting to a load. A mechanical interval selection element (52) i.e. electromechanical time registration part (50), determines time intervals and simultaneously serves as an indicator part for indicating the determined time intervals. A light sensor (70) i.e. mobile light sensor, is provided for automatic interruption of energization of the switchable connection socket at the time intervals if a light sensor signal exceeds a light threshold level or is alternatively lowered below the threshold level during intended usage. The selection element is formed as a tension ring.
