The present invention is a device for assessing tempering of aluminum castings, the device being for use in an aluminum casting tempering device for tempering aluminum castings by bringing same into contact with a gas flow and comprising: a pre-tempering temperature measurement means (D1) for measuring the temperature of the aluminum casting (C) before gas tempering; a post-tempering temperature measurement means (D3) for measuring the temperature of the aluminum casting (C) after gas tempering; a cooling rate-calculating means (D5) for calculating the cooling rate of the aluminum casting (C); and a gas tempering quality assessment means for assessing the quality of the gas tempering using the measured pre- and post-gas tempering temperatures of the aluminum casting (C) and the calculated cooling rate as assessment criteria.
