The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a metal precursor and a method for manufacturing a metal ink by using same. The method for manufacturing the metal precursor and the method for manufacturing the metal ink by using same, according to the present invention, synthesizes the metal precursor by using a fatty acid having a substituent at an alpha position so that the metal precursor forms an assembly that is no bigger than an oligomer, thereby facilitating isolation and purification of the precursor from impurities, which are produced during the precursor synthesis process, increasing solubility, enabling low-temperature firing, and improving coating and electrical properties of the final metal ink.
