PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption, and to raise reliability in a small variable focus mirror of simple control.SOLUTION: In a variable focus mirror and an optical pickup using the same, the variable focus mirror includes a substrate; a reflection film formed on one surface of the substrate; a mirror element part formed of an intermediate member formed on one surface opposite to the reflection film on the substrate, and a magnetic material fixed to the substrate via the intermediate member; and an electromagnet formed of a yoke and a coil arranged in the surroundings of the yoke, and a casing for fixing the outer peripheral part of the mirror element part to the electromagnet. The electromagnet is arranged to face the intermediate member and the magnetic material by non-contact, and an elastic body is used for the intermediate member. |
