1309075 Moulding fibre/polyurethane articles GENERAL FOAM PRODUCTS Ltd 31 March 1970 [2 April 1969] 17246/69 Heading B5A [Also in Division C3] Articles are produced by mixing predominantly cellulosic fibrous material with a liquid binder comprising a prepolymer formed from a polyol and an organic polyisocyanate, the amount of solid and non-volatile constituents of the binder being 7-30% by wt. of total of fibrous material and any other solid or filler present, moulding the mixture under pressure and causing or allowing the binder to polymerize and solidify. The prepolymer is preferably substantially water-free, i.e. in an amount not exceeding that absorbable by the fibrous material. Other non-fibrous solid or filler materials, e.g. powdered cork or pulverized cellular polyurethane may be incorporated. The mixture may be moulded in the form of a cylindrical block and peeled into sheets, which may be thermoformed.
