<p>The present invention relates to a surface dressing of ground 7. The surface dressing 1 provides improved drainage and allows the possibility that grass can be grown on the paved surface. The dressing comprises fibre-reinforced sand mixture and plastic or rubber open cellular grids 3 laid on a sub-base formed by the fibre-reinforced sand mixture 10 . Optionally a permeable geotextile membrane 5 is disposed underneath the sand layer. The grids may be filled with the same sand mixture, which may comprise organic material to permit growth of grass. The dressing is suitable for requiring reduced excavation depth whilst maintaining sufficient structural strength for supporting vehicles such as cars, light vans and fire engines. The fibres may be formed from: acrylic; cellulose; elastine; polyaramid; polyurethane; polyehteylene glycol; polyester; olefin; elastene or elastomeric materials. Also claimed is a method of providing a surface dressing.</p> |
