PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and easily obtain an index value representing a visceral fat amount with high accuracy, in medical examination of metabolic syndrome.SOLUTION: In an ultrasonic diagnostic system, a probe is abutted on the surface of an abdominal part, and an ultrasonic wave is transmitted and received. On a tomographic image formed thereby, a length a between the body surface and the ventral aorta, and a length a1 between the periphery of a visceral fat-containing region and the ventral aorta are measured. In addition thereto, an abdominal circumference length is measured. Subject to elliptical approximation of an abdominal cross section, the whole area of the abdominal part is calculated from the abdominal circumference length and the length a. From the whole area and a ratio between the length a and the length a1, an area of the visceral fat-containing region is calculated as an area (a partial area) of a similar-figure ellipse. From the partial area and one or more personal parameter values about a subject, an index value representing a visceral fat amount is calculated. |
