发明名称 USE OF MODULATED RADIATION IN HOLOGRAPHY
摘要 1,217,904. Holography. HOLOTRON CORP. Jan.30, 1968 [Feb.14, 1967], No.4613/68. Heading G2J. A laser, forming a coherent illuminating source, is of limited use in television or other systems where a wide coverage is normally required and accordingly holographic information is produced by illuminating an object with radiation intensity modulated at a frequency lower than that of the radiation, detecting the modulated radiation emanating from the object and comparing the object radiation with a reference signal coherent with the modulating frequency. As shown the scene 62, Fig. 9, is illuminated by incoherent radiation such as from a white light source, S modulated by a kerr cell, or supplied with a high voltage source oscillating at a required modulating frequency, the object bearing radiation impinging on plane 63 which is also supplied with a reference wave modulated at the same frequency as So. The reference wave may originate from source S or a separate source S r may be provided. The television system including scanner circuit 64 reproduces the holographic information at 65 which is photographed at 66 to produce a hologram (77), Fig. 10, (not shown) which may be illuminated by a coherent beam (78) and the reconstructed image picked up by a television camera (81) for display on a television screen (82). In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown) the object bearing wave (51) is allowed to impinge on a plane equipped with photo-cells (52) so that an electrical signal is fed from a scanner (53) to a unit (54) where it is mixed with a reference current (55) oscillating at the modulating frequency. The output current contains all the information necessary to produce a hologram of the object. A wide object may be illuminated by two sources arranged at different angles and illuminating substantially different portions of the object or switched off and on sequentially. To reconstruct images in colour the holographic information may be obtained by illuminating the object by a multifrequency source and interposing a rotating colour filter wheel either in the beam from the source to the object or from the latter to the detector, the detector then being sequenced in synchronism with the filter wheel so that sequential holograms are recorded for each colour. The same colour sequence is then used in reconstructing the holograms. Alternatively the object may be illuminated by a plurality of sources each of different colour and modulated at different frequencies, the reference beam being also modulated at the different frequencies so that the multiple holograms thus formed can be recorded by detectors turned to pass only the required modulation frequencies. Other radiation such as X-rays or matter waves such as electron beams may be modulated to produce holograms.
