The invention provides an improved magnetic pickup tool in which the shape, materials and mechanics provide a durable tool for collecting large amounts of ferrous objects. The tool includes an aluminum tube that supports a cylindrical enclosure containing a large magnet secured to a solid rod running up the length of the shaft. The rod, joining the magnet and a cylindrical shuttle and secured to a release handle, facilitates the movement of the magnet using direct or leveraged forces. Operationally capable of attracting large amounts of ferrous material, the large travel distance provided by the release handle weakens the magnetic pull on attracted objects enough to drop the items. The ergonomic shaft design which comfortably bends into a hand grip and arm rest at the top is easily capable of handling the added weight required to house powerful magnets and maintain a hold on a large amount of collected material. |
