PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a generation amount of smoke.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine which injects fuel from a fuel injection valve 4 into a cavity 32 formed by concaving a top face of a piston 3, includes control means 20 which reduces the amount of the fuel leaking out of the cavity to a value less than a predetermined amount. If the amount of the fuel leaking out of the cavity were equal to or more than the predetermined amount, a generation amount of smoke would rapidly increase. Therefore, the amount of the fuel leaking out of the cavity is suppressed below the predetermined amount.
