Fluid filter for use in a hydraulic system for actuating a release device in the drive train of a motor vehicle comprising a master cylinder, a slave cylinder and a hydraulic line connecting these, in which the fluid filter is arranged, wherein the fluid filter comprises a filter element, and a valve arrangement causes the fluid to flow through the filter element in such a manner that the fluid flows through the fluid filter in one direction only regardless of the flow direction of the fluid filter.
