[Also in Division F4] A space suit having a shell 88 of rigid non-flexible construction incorporates a controllable heat pipe (see Division F4 for details) to regulate the transmission of heat from the body of an astronaut to the exterior radiating surface of the space suit according to thermal conditions in the space environment. A resilient undergarment 96 is provided to cushion the astronaut's body from the shell so as to permit body expansion resulting from breathing or muscular activity.
