PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component excellent in scratch resistance.SOLUTION: The optical component includes an optical functional layer having a first surface and a hard coat layer disposed on the first surface of the optical functional layer. The hard coat layer contains a mixture of nanoparticles and a binder. The nanoparticles constitute 40 mass% to 95 mass% of the whole mass of the hard coat layer; 10 mass% to 50 mass% of the nanoparticles have an average particle diameter in the range from 2 nm to 200 nm; and 50 mass% to 90 mass% of the nanoparticles have an average particle diameter in the range from 60 nm to 400 nm. A ratio of the average particle diameter of the nanoparticles having an average particle diameter in the range from 60 to 400 nm to the average particle diameter of the nanoparticles having an average particle diameter in the range from 2 nm to 200 nm ranges from 2:1 to 200:1.
