An emergency shut-down system and an emergency shut-down method are disclosed. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the emergency shut-down system comprises: a first module including a first recognition switching unit which outputs a first recognition signal, and a first check switching unit which outputs a first check preliminary signal after outputting the first recognition signal; a second module which is positioned at a different place from the first module and includes a second check switching unit that outputs a second check preliminary signal after outputting the first recognition signal; and a controller which outputs an emergency shut-down signal according to at least one between a first check signal outputted from the first check switching unit and a second check signal outputted from the second check switching unit, after inputting the first recognition signal.
