A 2-20C olefin, C3H6, a C6H12 or C7H14, is hydroformylated with CO and H2 (1:4 to 4:1) at a total pressure of 0-4000 p.s.i.g. and 20 degrees-250 degrees C, 60 degrees-180 degrees C, in the presence of a complex of Ir that contains one carbonyl ligand, one hydride ligand and the other neutral ligands, particularly IrHCO(Ph3P)3. The process is used to produce aldehydes and/or alcohols.
|
