PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal-striped fuel cell structure that has a support substrate less likely to be deformed by external force acting thereon and that reliably prevents a decline in a gas sealing function.SOLUTION: A plurality of electrically series-connected power generating elements A are arranged at predetermined intervals on a main surface of a flat support substrate 10 that has fuel gas passages 11 formed therein. A plurality of recesses 12 are formed at predetermined intervals on the main surface of the support substrate 10. In the recesses 12, respective fuel electrodes 20 of corresponding power generating elements A are embedded. A recess 21b is formed in an outer side surface of each fuel electrode 20. Part of an interconnector 30 is embedded in a central portion of each recess 21b, and the remaining part of the interconnector 30 protrudes outside the recess 21b. A dense seal portion 35 having electrical insulating properties is embedded in a peripheral portion of each recess 21b that is positioned around the central portion. An entire peripheral portion of an outer side surface of the seal portion 35 is covered with a solid electrolyte membrane 40. |
