The present invention provides a lifting apparatus, which holds and lifts a workpiece by sandwiching the workpiece from above and below the workpiece. The lift apparatus is provided with: an upper-side sandwiching section, which is brought into contact with the workpiece from above; a lower-side sandwiching section, which is brought into contact with the workpiece from below; a guide mechanism, which guides lifting movement of the upper-side sandwiching section and the lower-side sandwiching section; a drive mechanism, which drives the lower-side sandwiching section to move upward and downward along the guide mechanism; and a stopper, which is set such that the upper-side sandwiching section stops before the lower-side sandwiching section reaches a descending lower limit when the upper-side sandwiching section and the lower-side sandwiching section are moving down, and which regulates the descending lower limit of the upper-side sandwiching section. |
