The device has a motor car seat that is adjusted by unlocking a locking mechanism, and an electromechanical actuator. The actuator is electrically controlled by an operating element and the locking mechanism is unlocked when the actuator is driven. The car seat is adjusted by unlocking of locking mechanism manually and/or under action of spring force. The mechanical actuator cooperates with a Bowden cable of the locking mechanism. The actuator performs the operation of a push element or a pull element.
