PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for protecting digital contents using a certificate are provided to control the illegal distribution and access of a user to contents offered from a contents provider. CONSTITUTION: Contents are encrypted by using a certificate issued from an authentication authority(120). The contents supply the encrypted contents to a user terminal(160). Illegal usage of the contents is detected from the user terminal. A certificate is revoked by requesting certificate revocation of authentication authorities(5020, 5040). The user terminal of the contents requests content execution(5050). Content execution is verified(5100). The content execution is limited according to a verification result. |
