The present invention provides a method and a system for enhanced event notification in a universal plug and play (UPnP) home network environment. In an embodiment, a system includes a telephony server (TS) and at least one telephony control point (TelCP) connected to the TS via an UPnP home network. The TS is configured for fetching information associated with a remote party when an incoming event (e.g., a call, a message, update, etc.) associated with the remote party is arrived, where the incoming event notification includes contact information, image information, location information, presence information, and/or service capabilities associated with the remote party.
