PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enzyme which saccharifies cellulosic biomass, in particular, an enzyme which is capable of suitably saccharifying graminoid biomass.SOLUTION: The invention provides a novel cellulase obtained from the intestine of a locust; a novel microorganism that lives in symbiosis with a locust, Oriental longheaded locust, or rice borer in the intestine; a novel cellulase derived from the novel microorganism; and a method for saccharifying cellulosic biomass using the same.
