PURPOSE: Modified graphite, graphite/thermosetting resin nanocomposite containing the same, and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to maintain the superior characteristics of the graphite while the surface area of the graphite is increased. CONSTITUTION: Graphite is reacted with an organic material with a functional group and an amino group in a reacting medium containing polyphosphoric acid and phosphorous pentoxide. The functional group is one or more selected from a group including carboxylic acid group, amide group, sulfonic acid group, carbonyl chloride, and carbonyl bromide group. The functional group and the organic material are bonded to the graphite based on an electrophilic substitution reaction. A method for manufacturing a graphite/thermosetting resin nanocomposite includes the following: modified graphite is dispersed in an organic solvent; a thermosetting resin is mixed and dispersed in the organic solvent with dispersed graphite; the organic solvent is eliminated from the dispersed product; the dispersed product is hardened using a hardener. |
