1,245,063. Cooling engines of motor vehicles. HONDA GIKEN KOGYO K.K. 9 Sept., 1969 [14 Sept., 1968; 20 Sept., 1968], No. 44559/69. Heading B7H. [Also in Divisions F1 and F3- F4] An air-cooled internal combustion engine 3 is transversely disposed in a compartment 1 at the front of a vehicle and in addition to being cooled by air entering opening 5 at the front of the vehicle it is also cooled by a blower connected to a duct 20 which forcibly directs air through passages 12 and 16 surrounding the cylinder body and cylinder head respectively of the engine. The passages 12 surrounding the cylinder body are subdivided by plates interconnecting the inner and outer walls and between which the air is deflected upwardly to be ejected at the top so that it is distributed about the outside of the cylinder head to assist in further cooling the head. The cylinder head passage is also subdivided by connecting walls and the passage also communicates with ducting 24 feeding warm air to the passenger compartment. The passages leading from the blower to the cylinder body and cylinder head are also provided with partitions to ensure an even distribution of the cooling air over the cylinders along the length of the engine. Specifications 1,245,061 and 1,245,062 which disclose similar arrangements are referred to.
|
