Polyurethane foams or coatings (esp. those used for coating substrates made of fibres) made flameproof by adding 1-15% (pref. 10%) of a P compd. pref. of formula: although substd. compds. of this formula can also be used. The prefd. compd. can be obtained by reacting 3-(dimethylphosphono)propionic methylolamide with acrylamide in equimolar proportion under reflux in benzene.
