1,191,807. Reactors. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 28 April, 1969 [21 May, 1968], No. 21574/69. Heading G6C. A beam of thermal neutrons, derived from a nuclear reactor core is passed to an external experimental facility and the neutron energy is controllable from the reactor exterior. Neutrons from the reactor core pass through the neutron moderating graphite block, 7, and the channels, 14 and 17 to the exterior. The temperature of 7 is adjusted by radiation energy derived from source, 10, and directed on to 7 along the channels 12, 14. Changes in the temperature of block, 7, cause corresponding variations of neutron energy. The source, 10, may be a magnetron, a laser or an arc furnace.
|
