<p>Disclosed are a mobile communication terminal utilizing an illumination sensor, which is capable of activating a unit for turning on/off an LED module on a locked screen according to ambient light by utilizing the illumination sensor, and a control method thereof. The mobile communication terminal comprises: an input unit for receiving input signals from a user; a control unit for receiving the input signals to perform overall control onto the mobile communication terminal; a display unit for displaying features controlled by the control unit on a screen; an illumination sensor for measuring intensity of ambient light to provide a value of intensity of illumination; and an LED module for turning on or off light through an LED, wherein the control unit receives the measured value of intensity of illumination from the illumination sensor, displays a unit for turning on/off an LED module on the locked screen if the value of intensity of illumination is smaller than a predetermined value of intensity of illumination, and controls the LED module by confirming an input through the unit for turning on/off the LED module. According to the present invention, the mobile communication terminal displays the unit for turning on/off the LED module capable of turning on or off the LED module on the locked screen if intensity of illumination is below the predetermined intensity of illumination after measuring the intensity of illumination using the illumination sensor, thereby enabling a user in a dark place to control the LED module directly on the locked screen.
