PURPOSE: A tau protein hyperphosphorylation inhibitor containing pentoxifylline is provided to prevent tau hyperphosphorylation and neuron dendrite damage and to prevent or treat neuropathic diseases. CONSTITUTION: A tau protein hyperphosphorylation inhibitor contains pentoxifylline of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. Pentoxifyllne is used for treating or preventing disease selected from the group consisting of dementia of Alzheimers type, dementia in Parkinson's diseases, and frontotemporal dementia. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating primary dementia contains 0.1-50 weight parts of pentoxifylline. The pharmaceutical composition additionally contains carrier, excipient, or diluent. |
