The present invention, «System for automatically detecting suspended particles based on capturing the electromagnetic radiation dispersed by said particles», relates to a system which is used to detect and identify any mass of suspended particles. Detection is carried out by means of the controlled emission of a single beam of electromagnetic radiation which is directed at said mass of particles, which beam, when incident on said mass, is dispersed in all directions such that a fraction of this dispersed radiation arrives at the system itself and is captured and identified by the latter. The emitter of the beam of electromagnetic radiation and the receiver of the dispersed radiation may be at the same location or at different locations.
