PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device and an image forming apparatus which prevent the occurrence of image density unevenness in a stable manner over a long period of time.SOLUTION: A developing device includes a developing roller, a layer thickness regulating member that is arranged opposite to the developing roller with a constant distance therebetween, and a developer stirring unit. A stationary member is arranged in the proximity of the developing roller between the downstream of a development area and the upstream of a position of the layer thickness regulation member, and has a shape in which a distance between the developing roller and the stationary member is reduced from the upstream side toward the downstream side in a direction of rotation of a sleeve; and developer passes through a gap between the developing roller and the stationary member. |
