The method involves applying a coating on an outer skin (1) that is provided on a mold surface of a half-mold, and performing a subsequent foaming of the mold surface. The mold surface is faced away from a side of the outer skin and from a foam material layer (7) that is foam-backed. The outer skin is decorated, and the outer skin is removed from the half-mold. A stitching is sewn and the outer skin is again inserted into the half-mold, and the outer skin is coated with a barrier layer (5). An independent claim is also included for a composite molded part.
