The invention relates to the use of metal nanoparticles deposited on a substrate by means of cathode sputtering as a catalyst for the synthesis of nanostructures. The nanoparticles deposited on the substrate have catalytic activity for the synthesis of nanostructures. The invention also relates to a method for the synthesis of nanostructures on said nanoparticles.
